Yong Chen
Director, Purdue Quantum Science and Engineering Institute
Karl Lark-Horovitz Professor of Physics and Astronomy
Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering
Education
PhD in Electrical Engineering (Princeton, 2005)
Research Interests
low dimensional and nanoscale physics, graphene, nano devices for radiation detection and fluid sensors, quantum physics and quantum information with cold atoms and molecules
Research Impact
The current research of Dr. Chen and his interdisciplinary Quantum Matter and Devices Group at Purdue focuses on quantum manipulation of electrons, atoms and photons, and emerging quantum systems (such as artificially engineered nanostructures as well as cold atoms in optical lattices) that can display novel quantum phases of matter and promise innovative applications in quantum information processing or nanotechnologies.
